So it took the a day to drive the coast through Greymouth, Westport and into a Forest just south of Nelson where we camped for the evening. The colours in the forest are incredible, mixes of yellow, green, blues and purples litter the hills. The forests run for miles as well which is great for camping.
We got to Nelson and drove up to a place called Kaiteriteri across the coast. This place was beautiful, with calm green seas and crystal white sandy beaches.
We stayed here overnight which was very strange - right on the beach but everything shut at 8 and by sunset there was no-one aaround at all - a walk on the beach for sunset we were the only people there.
In the morning we caught the Wilsons ferry into the Abel Tasman National park. We had heard good reports from fellow travellers that this place was beautiful - it didn't dissapoint. We had a 4 hour hike in the jungle over rugged terain, seeing sandy beaches, terquoise lagoons and beautiful rainforest. It was sensational - it seriously looked like the caribbean. Pictures to follow were so good. What a day!
This is now our favourite place in New Zealand - well thats it for the South island back to the North tomorrow.
