So we arrived in the south island after a very picturesque ferry journey and took the scenic coastal route to Christchurch. Megan suddenly awoke to see huge mountains and coastal bays - what she classed as the real New Zealand. We have to admit it is very pretty, everywhere you look there is different colours, yellows, purples, whites and greens. Christchurch itself is a very quaint town, with a cathedral in the centre. We had a walk around the town seeing the old colonial buildings, city tram and the botanic gardens. All in all its a very pleasant city - but lacks a little flair.
The fun of the day came to when we parked up for dinner - Vinny wouldn't start again!!!! So we had the AA called out, luckily he was etremely friendly and offered for us to stay outside the garage he worked for... Some luck that meant free camping. He even gave us access to the garage toilets but urged Megan not to go into the mens as there were nudey pictures on the wall - how sweet! Needless to say she couldn't help herself and had a peek :-)
The morning came and Mr AA checked our engine - determining that the problem was loose connections with our battery - case solved he sent us on our way....
