So it was off on a tour around Tasmania. So this time we decided to rent a car and actually become real hardcore backpackers by sleeping in it - saving $50-$85 a night. But the question is can Megan sleep in a car? ha of course Megan can sleep in a car - Megan can sleep anywhere!
Anyhow we first drove down to Port Aurthur which is a old missionary spot to the south east with some nice views of the ocean. Its also the new conservation area for the Tassie devil - although during the day they are all asleep :-(.
From there it was all the way up the East coast, first stop was the famous Wineglass Bay. So called because the beach looks like a wineglass! Simple but true. Its an hour or so hike to the look out which was all we needed realy as the hike to the beach was another 3 hours and it wasn't the sunniest of days...
Honestly we couldn't see what all the fuss was about - the national park was nice but nothing sensational.
So we drove again up the East coast to what has been deemed by Tasmanians as the "best beach in the world" called the Bay of Fires. Again not impressed, apart from the orange rocks the beach was dare we say it below average. Also the town nearby was completely shut when we arrived at 6pm, so it was a quiet night sleeping in the car on the beach - not the worst experience ever :-)
We are a little disappointed with Tasmania so far - the East Coast has been very average so we are praying the rest might be a little better.
