Following our trip to the Cameron Highlands we head down to Kuala Lumpur. We didn't have very high expectations as pretty much everyone we met had said they hated it! We went with an open mind though. I actually ended up loving it! We stayed in a hostel called "Back Home" and instantly hit it off with some of the people staying in our dorm. We were taken along to a Malaysian dance show on our first night by a guy from South America. We were so glad he mentioned it as we wouldn't have known about it otherwise. It was such a good show in a little auditorium where they showed different dance styles of all the differebnt nationalities in malaysia. It was brilliant.
The next day we went for a lush Indian for lunch and met 2 more girls who spent the next couple of days with us. We went up the Patronus Towers (after queuing for 2 hours in the morning to get tickets!) and up the KL tower which was really expensive but had some good views from the top! They had a mini zoo there which was the worst I've ever seen! The animals were literally there on display, they had absolutely nothing to do in any of their cages and the cages were so small. It was awful!
We had some lovely Chinese food in KL too, there are so many different influences there that there is a huge mixture of food to eat!
We went to the Badu caves where there is a massive golden statue and about 200 steps to get to the top. There's a sign at the top saying "No exercise past this point" which I found funny! It rained a bit in KL but apart from that I loved the place!
We went to Melaka from KL. It was a pretty town but there wasn't much to do there. We stayed in a really crappy hostel and looked around China Town and ate some Malay food. Cat and me ended up taking a trip to Tesco just for something to do!!
